Gender Links is set to take part in the sixty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women which takes place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018.

Representatives of Member States, United Nations (UN) entities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend this session.

The two week conference will run under the theme, “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls. The review theme will focus on; Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women (agreed conclusions of the forty-seventh session);

GL will use this opportunity to publicise and launch its newly developed digital media monitoring tool . This tool is grounded on years of gender and media research and advocacy undertaken in Southern Africa by GL and partners .

GL will co-host 2 events with the International Association for A Women in Radio and Television under the theme  #MeTooOnline – Workshopping Solutions to Counter Cyber Violence Against Women.  The second event Making IT work for Gender Justice will be hosted together with the Malawi Government.
