Johannesburg, 2 October: International Association of Women in Radio and Television will host a Gender Mainstreaming Workshop on Friday, 6th October 2017.
In 2015 IAWRT conducted a Gender Monitoring Survey in 8 different countries that examined the role that women play in each country’s public radio and television stations. The report revealed information about the roles women play during prime-time hours.
Since its 2015 report, The International Association of Women in Radio and Television aims to develop strategies on how to achieve gender equality in the media.
Join us as our speakers explore where South Africa stands with regard to Gender parity in our media industry and why gender mainstreaming is important. We take a look at how women are represented in South African media and how they can be given a legitimate voice. Gender Links South Africa will also introduce assessment tools that media houses can use to make sure that they are on track to a more gender-inclusive organisation.
The Gender Mainstreaming Workshop will start at 9:30 and end around 12:30 at the Genderlinks Cottages 28 Gill Street, Observatory, JHB. The cost for the workshop is free but participants are requested to RSVP to iawrt.sa@gmail.com.
