The Economic power to end gender-based violence summit hosted by Gender Links in South Africa kick starts from 14 – 15 December 2022 at Kopanong Hotel, Johannesburg. The summit brings together women entrepreneurs, men working as partners to prevent gender based violence, journalists as well as local authorities to showcase good practices in their line of work.
The summit takes place following the end of the 2022 Sixteen days of Activism campaign.
For the South Africa Summit, GL received 153 applications which will be presented over the two days. The summits seek to gather evidence on #VoiceandChoice through case studies on leadership and institutional practice on gender-based violence, local economic development and the implementation of the Sunrise Campaign: Economic power to end violence. Furthermore, they will acknowledge and affirm survivors of gender violence who are reclaiming their lives. The summit will also promote discussion and reflection on what works to achieve gender equality and justice.
GL will also convene summit under the same theme summits in Madagascar, 13- 14 December 2022 Le Pave Hotel , Antananarivo, as well as in Eswatini, 18-19 December 2022 at Happy Valley Hotel, Ezulwini. The summits will take place over a period of two days in each country.
