Heightened violence against women is intimately intertwined with disaster situations including pandemics such as COVID -19 that the world is currently facing. South Africa is witnessing a spike in Gender Based Violence and Femicide with an increasing number of women being killed over the past 100 days . In condemning the spate of killings of women in the past few weeks President Ramaphosa spoke strongly against these violations.
