ACFODE has prepared this training manual to create awareness among their people about women’s rights. There are two main purposes which are to explain the Convention to ACFODE’s target audience and to produce a training manual for ACFODE facilitators to use.
ACFODE has employed several strategies over the past 26 years to promote gender equality and good governance in Uganda. Many obstacles still exist with regards to women’s rights and freedoms and the notion of gender equality is not fully appreciated in Uganda. In the light of these challenges, debate tournaments have been born as a strategy for deepening and sustaining the gender equality campaign amongst the youth.
This handbook has been designed to be used by debate trainers, judges and adjudicators at all levels. It is also intended too be used by students and debaters who wish to move debates to another level. It provides basic information to trainers interested in conducting community and British parliamentary format debates.
