2015: Yes we must! The SADC Gender Protocol@Work Summit and Awards

As the Sixteen Days of Activism comes to an end, Gender Links, as coordinator of the Southern African Gender Protocol Alliance, calls on activists at national, local and community level, as well as the media and media training institutions, to submit good practices of the SADC Gender Protocol@Work in the countdown to 2015 À“ the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals and the 28 targets of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.

The Summit, which has the support of the SADC Gender Unit, is calling for examples of the SADC Protocol@work in five theme categories À“ Gender, GBV and Conflict Resolution; Gender, Education and Economic Development; Gender, Constitutional and Legal Rights and Governance; Gender, Climate Change and Sustainable Development; Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS. The summit is also calling for leadership and institutional entries from the Centres of Excellence for Gender in Local Government and the Centres of Excellence for Gender in the Media. The regional summit in South Africa from 22-24 April 2013 will be preceded by country summits in Botswana, Lesotho, DRC, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
