Please respond by 17 July

Gender Links, a vibrant Southern African NGO that promotes gender equality and justice, invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to serve on its Audit Committee, a sub-committee of the Gender Links Board of Directors. For more information on GL, please go to www.genderlinks.org.za.

Functions

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Audit Committee is responsible for, among others:

  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies;
  • Receiving and dealing appropriately with any concerns or complaints;
  • Making submissions to the Board on any matter concerning the company’s accounting policies, financial control, records and reporting; and
  • Implementation of a policy and plan for a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the company.

Qualifications

Suitably qualified candidates must be Chartered Accountants (or have equivalent accounting qualifications) with experience in Enterprise Risk Management. The candidates must also have a proven record of commitment to gender equality.

Conditions

The committee meets four times a year at GL Offices in Cyrildene, Johannesburg. Members of the committee must be independent; they may not be associated in any way with, or benefit from, GL resources. They must be willing to serve as Directors of GL, which is registered as a company-not-for profit. The position is not remunerated, but offers the opportunity for interested individuals to contribute to the sustainability of one of the best known gender equality organisations in the region on a pro bono basis and to be part of its vibrant network. GL will cover reasonable costs of travel to and from meetings. Applicants from outside South Africa may join meetings electronically.

If you are interested in serving on the GL Audit Committee, please send your CV (and Company profile where applicable) and a cover letter to hr@genderlinks.org.za no later than Friday, 17 July 2015. Please direct any queries to Bheki Ncube, 011  622 2877.
