The multi-donor Fund for Gender Equality (FGE) of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) was launched in 2009 to fast-track commitments to gender equality focused on women’s economic and political empowerment at local, national and regional levels. The Gender Links’ programme entitled “At the Coalface Gender and Local Economic Development in South Africa” is an FGE-supported Implementation programme being undertaken in South Africa.
The fund requires that an independent end of project assessment be undertaken within the three months of the end of the programme to determine its impact. The aim of the evaluation is to determine the extent to which the programme met its objectives and whether the expected results were achieved.
