Botswana is one of the two countries who have not yet signed the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development. Even though national lobbying and advocacy activities for signing have been on-going, there is a need to re-strategize to ensure a more effective campaign and increase pressure on the government to sign this regional instrument.
The main objective of the meeting was to develop new advocacy strategies for signing of the protocol in Botswana and map a way to take the process forward in Botswana. GL had prepared a strategy paper and the alliance members were asked to review the strategy and advise on approaches that will ensure a more effective outcome.
