Description
Mafeteng- The children from Malumeng and Sekameng World Vision Lesotho (WVL) Area Development Programme celebrated the African Child day at the event held last week.
The celebration started with the march that commenced from Malumeng Area Development Programme (ADP) grounds down to the Golden hotel where the event took place.
According to WVL child protection and advocacy officer Maseisa Ntlama the main purpose of the celebration was also to celebrate the implementation of the child protection and welfare act 2011 that was passed in the parliament in February this year.
She said WVL was among non-governmental organisations that participate in influencing the government and parliament to implement this act. “…..As a result we are pleased to have realised how our voices have been heard. The event was also intended to senitize childern and to deepen their understanding of the children’s protection and welfare Act 2011. We also realize the important role the Act will play in creating a conducive and safe environment for different categories of children in Lesotho ,” explained Ntlama.
