Striking nurses in Nelson Mandela Bay has shut down nearly 50 clinics in the area. The nurses say they will not go back to work until they get a 10% increase.
They say if they don’t get the increase, they will go overseas. The nurses say they are gatvol of empty promises.
About 300 nurses have been protesting outside the municipal offices at Vuyisile Mini Square since Monday.
Phumla Ntlanganisela, the nurses’ spokeswoman, told Daily Sun: “In 2008, we were promised that we would get 10% increase on our salaries”.
