Decriminalisation of freedom of expression in Africa

This meeting will follow UNESCO’s World Press Freedom day conference in the same location from 4-5 May 2012. It will bring together organisations that have worked on the decriminalisation of laws limiting freedom of expression within Africa in the past, those that are well positioned to do so in the future, as well as representatives of media groupings whose activities are most jeopardised by the existence of these laws. It is intended as a kick-off organisational and planning event for extended work on repealing or “deactivating” these laws.
