tinyiko says:

human trafficking, is a very cruel form of abuse, forced to be a prostitute, a drug smugler. keeping the victim alive not a necessity. I watched the movie ‘taken’ it gives insight of how young women traveling to other countries become victims of abuse. Very sad.

kgomotso says:

can’t we south african come with strategy plan of giving our people guidline for this kind of abusive people.

samanga says:

Walter says:
there is need for the region to enhance stringent legislative frameworks to curb human trafficking.in this regard all the central government through relevant ministries must engage in formulating these policies.

samanga says:

i agree with you kgomotso, but i feel there is need for all governments to engage,as human trafficking involves many nations

Deborah Walter says:

Folks, this is not the cyber dialogue. Can I please direct you to the chat, located from a link at the top of the GL homepage.

Thanks,

Ruth says:

human trafficking is a violation of human rights

Ruth says:

we need the bill to b passed into legilature

jannie says:

Human trafficking is bad and we should work with government to stop this. More awareness should be done, especially at rural areas and poverty stricken areas. This should start at schools and creches

Tommie says:

I do agree wit kgomotso so that all the goverment officials must come together to curb this thing.

jannie says:

Deborah Yes direct us to the chat we will appreciate it

spuddy says:

humantrafficking is a booming bussiness in S.A, we need to do alot of education to our ppl

Ruth says:

really we need to empower our people with info and to tell them not to be strunded with work.we understand its difficult but lets be sure if someone call you for a job

spuddy says:

but not only gov, everybody is affected, so we all need to cme to the party

Johnny says:

Is a situation in which victims are forced to work against their own will.We need to empower our chilldren. We can as a community to iron this out and we have

patricia says:

I also agree with what you are saying, the country has to enforce stiffer penalties for the perpetrators of human trafficking .

spuddy says:

what needs 2 b done is to come 2gether 2 fight this social ills

jannie says:

the bad thing about human trafficking is that when they are tired with you they dumb you to now become a domestic worker another slave of another kind

spuddy says:

but what do we as communities do 2 assist gov?

kapesi says:

Human trafficking is a product of a failed legislation by different nations, which if properly addressed, would save hundreds of lives in third world countries.

Tommie says:

also man are also involved in this human trafficking we must take that into consideration.

jannie says:

churches, political parties, ngo’s etc should assist in creating awareness. This is everybody’s business. I agree that stiffer penalties should be imposed to the trafficer and the user.

spuddy says:

how do we do it when we are still confused? human trafficking has 3 different faces.

Ruth says:

human trafficking its really cruel.we need to empower our people with information.they dont have to be too strunded for jobs.we understand that theres no jobs and we have many responsibilities, but lets make sure before we decide or agree

pieter says:

There is a need our stakeholders to work together because we can influence policies/ legislative to better the lives of our societie’s

james says:

i agree with spuddy

jannie says:

Migrant women should be carefull with this because they get involved with wrong people who will lure them to lucrative jobs only to find that they are going to be sexually exploited on arrival.

spuddy says:

if one can identify the 3 faces of humantraficking, then we will b able to monitor it in S.A

Johnny says:

Human are under the threat of violance or some other form of punishment, their freeedom is restricted and a degree of ownership is exerted.Men are at risk of being trafficked for unskilled work,

ospar says:

Government must put a law in place against human trafficking.

blapets says:

more community awareness on human trafficking should be conducted and stiffer penalties given to the perpetrators

spuddy says:

i want 2 concur with pieter, we need to work intergratedly to curb & fight the scourge of gender based violence. as individuals we can nothing.

Georgie says:

Is there a difference between sex slave and prostitution?

kapesi says:

Spuddy, you are right to suggest that.Iam of the opinion that the community should assist the government by being assertive in manner and follow the required procedures when acquiring travel documents

pieter says:

why do you think HT is increase every year

james says:

we can enforce citizen arrest on human traffickers

spuddy says:

what is the difference between migration & human smuggling?

Georgie says:

For me, human trafficking is all about exploitation. People are forced into labour, whereas with prostitution you somehow still have a choice even though it might be limited if you have an agent.

jannie says:

guide lines for penalties should be made available and training should be given to Magistrates and the police when they magistrate sentence and police when they come across such situations to arrest

jane says:

more secury at all boader posts

spuddy says:

ospar we have a bill that is tabled in parlement that needs 2 b passed in2 legislature/act

kapesi says:

Spuddy, remember the issue of poverty is the main problem

ospar says:

As community we need to educate people about human trafficking.

memory says:

human trafficking is helping most families to survive because the income they get from buying and selling goods.

Georgie says:

Spuddy, what are the three faces of human trafficking?

Ruth says:

atleast we have opportunies of bussiness.we group ourselves and go to places that can fund and start our own businness.and again if you decide to go out check the ID of that person and do the arrangement at the police

spuddy says:

human trafficking is an organised crime, no one knows when they strike and how. therefore it is imperative to educate our ppl. furthermore we need to know our communities. we are talking about syndicates who have money to buy protection in high places.

pieter says:

prostitution in human trafficking get’s something our of the profit but sex slave’s do not anything

jannie says:

councilling and Rehabilitation centres should be created to rehabilitate those who have be rescued from this horrowfull life and bring them back to reality of civilazation and out of the trauma.

Georgie says:

I think that HT is increasing every year because it is easy money and there a lots of poverty-stricken, desparate people and sometimes naive people to exploit.

Tommie says:

i think all the people who went tru this ordeal they must be taken to rehabilitation centres.whereby they can talk freely about the whole situation

spuddy says:

kapesi i agree poverty is a contributive factor, but anybody can be trafficked, educated or not educated, all are vulnerable. so how do we then best protect everybody.

jannie says:

pieter HT is a booming business as spuddy indicated. They do what they like with their victims, who have no say about their own welfare.

Johnny says:

I think we as the community we should work hand in hand with the police to save the situation and i agree poverty is the couse human trafficking

pieter says:

ospar i agree with you around educational programmes for our communities but there is a seriuos for the rural communities

Georgie says:

Spuddy, so you mean that HT is like the mafia?

spuddy says:

da 3 faces of HT is recruitment, transportation & exploitation. but exploitation can also happen during the process of transportation

Ruth says:

lets join our hands and fighht for crime and human trafficking
