Gender Links is calling for a Gender and Media Diversity Centre (GMDC) meeting from 16-18 August 2017. The aim of the meeting is to take stock of GMDC partner activities in the past year and identify areas that need strengthening in the GMDC. Secondly, the meeting will be part of the SADC Gender Protocol Alliance strategy meeting agenda on the adoption of a regional roadmap to attain gender equality by 2030 through the strengthening of the Alliance thematic clusters which include media. The meeting will also focus on the GMDC Community of Practice.

The meeting will take place in the backdrop of the SADC Heads of State summit in Johannesburg where the original SADC Protocol on Gender and Development was adopted in 2008.
