Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Violence is an international campaign that runs from the 25th November to the 10th December. The campaign began in 1991 to raise awareness about gender based violence as a human rights issue. 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign and since its inception over 3700 organisations in approximately 164 countries1 have participated in the Sixteen Days campaign.
