Gender and Media Audience Study: Malawi

The attached report presents the findings of the Malawi Gender and Media Audience Study (GMAS)
conducted by Gender Links in partnership with GEMSAMalawi and the Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ). It
is the first comprehensive study of audience news consumption patterns and preferences in Malawi generally,
as well as the gender dimensions of these.

The findings are based on the responses of 91 women and 89 men, a total sample of 180 in Lilongwe, Blantyre
and Mzuzu City.
