Gender Mainstreaming Seminar – Mainstreaming or Malestreaming?

This report details the proceedings of a series of discussions hosted by Gender Links (GL) in April 2012 on the topic “Mainstreaming or malestreaming: Gender@work in organisations.” GL is leading the gender sub group of the PPA Gender learning partnership and the organisation convened the discussions to come up with a learning paper on the approaches that different organisations are using to mainstream gender in their work.

The series concluded that organisations should work with progressive men in gender mainstreaming. This is because we need to acknowledge attitudes and mindsets that perpetuate gender inequalities.
