The regional SADC Gender Protocol Summit, attended by over 300 people, hosted by Gender Links came to a celebratory close with the Summit Awards commending gender champions from across the Southern African region. Finalists from the 12 national summits, held during March and early April competed head to head to secure awards for gender mainstreaming and for pushing the gender agenda forward. After a gruelling judging process, Gender Links and the Southern African Gender Protocol Alliance awarded 45 gender champions (34 women and 11 men) prizes for their efforts to put the SADC Gender Protocol to work.
