SADC Gender Protocol @ Work Summit

2015 has arrived! The moment to stop and assess progress made in attaining the 28 targets of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development, and reposition for 2030, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The Southern African Gender Protocol Alliance invites you to join the 2015 SADC Protocol@Work summit, featuring award winning case studies from the national summits that took place in June and July 2015. The regional summit takes place from 9-11 August in Gaborone, Botswana ahead of the SADC Heads of State summit. It will feature the launch of the 2015 Barometer under the title: “Implementation: the Time is Now!”

About Gaborone
Gaborone is a young metropolis that experienced most of its boom with the discovery of diamonds in the 1970s. Its downtown is dominated by modern buildings and services, from glittering hotels to casinos. The Main Mall boasts a plethora of shops, while the surrounding area hosts monuments and government buildings. Monkeys and birds call out from the wetlands of Gaborone Game Reserve, and Kgale Hill delights with panoramic views.

1. Budget Travel Package for self- funded participants À“ R8700.00
Gender Links is offering budget packages to participants who wish to connect from Johannesburg to Gaborone to attend the summit. Please note packages are from Johannesburg to Gaborone and back; they exclude flights to Johannesburg and back to country of origin, visa costs or any other costs not mentioned in the package:

  • Arrive in Johannesburg on Saturday 8 August.
  • Accommodation À“ Dinner, Bed & Breakfast in Johannesburg at GL Cottages (single accommodation)
  • Travel by bus to Gaborone on Sunday 9 August.
  • Packed Lunch en-route to Gaborone.
  • Accommodation À“ B&B at Tlotlo Hotel where the summit will be held from 9-11 August, including gala dinner and awards on 11 August (single accommodation).
  • Conferencing package À“ includes lunch and teas.
  • Return to Johannesburg by bus on 12 August.
  • Overnight at the GL Cottages À“ Dinner, Bed and Breakfast 12 August. (single accommodation)

2. Budget pack for self- funded participants going direct to Gaborone – R7733.00
Gender Links is offering budget packages to participants who wish to travel directly to Gaborone without going through Johannesburgh S.A to attend the summit. Please note packages excludes flights, visa costs or any other costs not mentioned in the package:

  • Accommodation – B&B at Tlotlo Hotel for 3 nights where the summit will be held from 9-11 August, including gala dinner and awards on 11 August (single accommodation).
  • Conferencing package – includes lunch and teas.
  • Airport shuttle from and to the Airport
  • Registration fees INCLUDED in this pack!

3. Registration and day summit fees only – R3200.00
This option is for participants who do not need travel and accommodation packages. Cost includes conferencing and gala dinner night event 10 À“ 11 August.
