Gibeonis a village inGibeon Constituencyin theHardap Regionregion ofNamibia. In the 2009 presidential election, 3669 people voted in the Gibeon constituency.Gibeon Railway Stationis located in the village. The station is a stop on theTransNamib Railway.Gibeon is one of Namibia’s most historic towns. It is the birthplace of the Nama clan called the Witbooi’s and has been the scene of a number of bloody skirmishes between the then colonial rulers and the Nama people. Apart from its history, Gibeon is also known for the Gibeon meteorites, now on display in Windhoek.
