Hurungwe RDC is situated in Mashonaland West. It prides itself in herbal gardens. The council is also known for its best practices in dealing with climate change issues. Boasting of a population of 309 821, the council has 21 councillors of whom only 2 are female.

Hurungwe RDC is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming in local government, mentored by Zvimba RDC. The council has a climate change bio-diversity programme meant to empower women through the CAMPFIRE programme which are channeled to building schools and health facilities across Hurungwe district
