The Lesotho Media Literacy pilot course is part of a series of regional media literacy courses being conducted by Gender Links in collaboration with training institutions in the SADC region. The aim of this course is to empowere citizens to engage critically with the media. This is through writing, creating their own media as well as media monitoring. This is part of bigger efforts to encourage citizen participation in democratic discourses and processes.
In Lesotho the course is being run in partnership with the University of Lesotho’s Institute of Extra Mural Studies (IEMS). The course is run using a local adaptation of the Gender Links toolkit ‘Watching the watchdogs.’
