The focus of reproductive health shifted to men?s needs and roles in a regional workshop held for women and men.

This editorial challenges gender stereotypes by focusing on the role of men in reproductive. It provides a balanced and well-researched account of the need to involve men in the programmes of reproductive health.
  
The editorial does not rely on the views and perspectives of the writes. It includes interviews with participants in the workshop, trainers and experts. The editorial is supported by research done by different bodies in highlighting the importance of involving men in reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
  
Links are made with critical issues relating to culture and patriarchy and how these impact on the rights and freedoms of women. It also points out that gender issues are about both women and men.
  
Exercise one: Read the article and discuss the following:
  1. Why is this story gender aware? Explain by referring to sources, analysis, perspective, stereotypes.
  2. How is this story different from other stories on reproductive health in the media? Identify the issues that are raised in this article as opposed to the others.
