Now doctors urge condoms for prisoners_Botswana Gazzette

Dr Saleshando who is the chairman of Botswana HIV Clinicians Society said that it is the society’s view that prisoners should be provided with condoms. Saleshando observed that as clinicians they attend to patients- including prisoners-with Sexually Transmitted Infections  such as gonorrhea. Former President Dr. Festus Mogae and BONELA’s Uyapo Ndadi were among the leaders who urged government to consider making condoms available to prisoners.

However, Vice President Lt. Gen. Mompati Merafhe told the National AIDS Council that the government would not give condoms to prisoners.
