This report which has been prepared by Gender Links with input from International IDEA and The Women in Politics Support Unit (WiPSU) is part of an audit of the SADC Declaration on Gender and Development ahead of the Heads of State Summit in 2005.

The paper draws on GL’s 2003 study, Ringing up the changes: Gender in Southern Africa politics as well as updates made through the GL GEM Opinion and commentary service on recent elections in the region.
