Gender and Media Progress Study – Seychelles

The proportion of women sources in the news in Seychelles has shown a significant increase of 10 percentage points, up from 21% recorded in the 2003 Gender and Media Baseline Study to 31% in the Gender and Media Progress Study (GMPS). This is 12% higher than the regional average of 19% and also higher than the global average in the 2010 Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP)of 24%. There are, however, variations among individual media from Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) TV’s 40% to People’s Weekly’s 17%.
