The I Stories is a series of first hand accounts of gender violence from across Southern Africa produced by the GL Opinion and Commentary Service for the Sixteen Days of Activism. Covering topics such as gender violence and the law; children; and HIV and AIDS, the book will be launched in Johannesburg on 25 November (International Day of No Violence Against Women) at the Take Back the Night Campaign.

Audio Stories
As part of the I Stories, some of the women at  a Johannesburg workshop recorded parts of their stories for use by radio, telling about their experiences, and offering advice to others experiencing violence. Recorded and produced CMFD (Community Media for development) Productions, the women told their own stories, and also  recorded the excuses their abusers gave for violence, reasons why they stayed, and the response from the legal system, which were produced into spots for airplay during 16 Days. All audio is available for free use, as long as the GL Service editor is infomed. Contact Deborah Walter editor@genderlinks.org.za
