Following the success of its first ever Gender and Media Literacy course which was conducted on a pilot basis in 2006, Gender Links conducted the second phase of the course from May to August 2007. This included a course for the general public and a course for pre and post-matric learners which was conducted on a pilot basis over a one week period, 25-29 June 2007.

The second running of the Media Literacy course was one of the activities of the Gender and Media Diversity Centre, (GMDC), which seeks to promote debate and dialogue around gender and media issues globally. As such three GMDC seminars formed part of the Media Literacy course prospectus.
