This report is a summary of the 2002 Sixteen Days of Peace campaign coordinated by Gender Links, in collaboration with over forty NGOs, to develop effective camapigns for ending gender violence in the three South African provinces of the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Western Cape.
Although the report covers only the South African campaign, an important related initiative is the Southern African Sixteen Day Campaign workshop run by Gender Links and Women’s Media Watch (WMW) in collaboration with Women in Law Southern Africa (WILSA). This has sparked interest in extending the Sixteen Days of Peace campaign much more broadly across the region in 2003.
