SPTC Bus involved in fatal Accident.
In its main news of 19 October 2010, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) gave full coverage, including distressing pictures, of an accident involving a public transport vehicle which crashed into a ravine.
The coverage had interviews with a variety of people, including those who were involved directly in the accident.
Contrary to what we usually hear that women refuse to talk, in this coverage quite a few women in their hospital beds, hands, head and feet in bandages agreed to talk to the journalist and gave details of their traumatic experiences. One of them was in her 60s and although quite injured she explained what she went through with a clear voice.
High officials of the Transport Authority, the medical body as well as others concerned in such cases were interviewed.
This coverage shows that when journalists go the extra mile they can come out with good coverage that includes the voices of all affected and involved, including women.
