Tanzania: Register child’s birth via phone
Tanzania is rolling out a nationwide programme to register children’s birth using mobile phones. The country has one of the lowest birth registration figures in east and southern Africa. The registration of births is fundamental to the realisation of a number of rights and practical needs. It is also important that birth registration cover hard-to-reach populations, be decentralised and accessible to communities. This initiative hopes to improve birth registration in the country.
