“It’s heating up in the Valayden coupleÀ is the title of an article in Le Dimanche on 25 October 2009.
The article is about the English premier league football game in which Manchester United was playing against Liverpool. The Journalist chose to interview Attorney General Rama Valayden and his wife Taslima on the respective teams they were supporting.
This story breaks stereotypes as it is uncommon for a well-known couple to speak publicly about their preference for football teams. It is also not every day that women are asked to give their views on sports.
The human dimension of this couple watching a football match together comes out very strongly. Rama, the great supporter of Manchester, and Taslima, a supporter of Liverpool, have their fights like any other supporters watching football. They express their views very clearly not only on their respective teams but on their behaviour when one team beats the other.
Both were asked the same questions and at times they even talk about their bad behaviour as sore losers.
The pictures in the article are also gender sensitive. One has Rama and his wife supporting their teams by wearing team t-shirts and holding a ball in unity.
