Trainer’s notes
The advertisement for degree courses targets both men and women. The image consists of three young
people who look happy that they have taken the decision to go on with their academic studies. They are from different ethnic backgrounds: an
Indian-looking man, a  Chinese-looking woman and a Creole looking woman. In the Mirror on the Media advertising research conducted by GL both female and male focus groups commented that the advertisement carries a:
• Strong message of gender equality.
• Positive message for the youth.
• Positive message on ethnic diversity.
Some questions could be asked as to why the male image is forgrounded and larger than the photos of the women.
