Zambia is one of the countries with the highest adult HIV prevalence rates (12.5%).
The country’s overall SGDI score is 56% based on empirical evidence while the overall citizen’s score based on perceptions is 76%.
Women form the majority of those living with HIV at 57% compared to 43% men.
About 68% of those living with HIV/AIDS are on anti retroviral (ARV) treatment while 86% of HIV positive pregnant women are receiving Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT).
Zambia has begun work on the development of a care work policy.
The National Aids Council (NAC) coordinates the implementation of the multi-sectoral Strategic Framework.
