Brief Council Description
Situated in a vibrant mining town. Kadoma City Council is synonymous for its Waste Management programme. Affectionately known as the ‘City of Gold’, Kadoma City Council has been at the fore of numerous campaign activities on the 50/50 as well as responding to Gender-Based Violence in the community. The city has developed a Code of Conduct for Council employees that incorporates Gender aspects like Sexual harassment at work. A Gender Action Plan for 2016 is in place. The City is a Centre of Excellence and runs Gender mainstreaming programmes. To achieve its objectives of promoting Local Economic Development through waste management, the Municipality joined the Promoting Gender Inclusive Local Economic Development in Zimbabweprogramme in 2023. The initiative being implemented in partnership with Gender Links seeks to promote waste recycling which has become a source of livelihood for women and youths. |
