GL in close association with the Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation (MGYSR) and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftainship (MoLGC) is undertaking quantitative and qualitative research violence against women in Lesotho. The research provides data on the extent, drivers, effects, response, support and prevention efforts to address the scourge. MGYRS will use the research findings as a baseline to monitor and evaluate the efforts of government and civil society to halve the current levels of gender-based violence by 2015, as provided in the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development signed in 2008.
