Swaziland is in the process of mainstreaming gender, costing, and making budget allocations to facilitate implementation of the SADC Gender Protocol targets. An Inception meeting, organised by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in partnership with UNFPA and Gender Links convened in Mbabane on 23 August 2012. The main objective of the Inception meeting was to strengthen the National Gender Policy Action Plan by adding the SADC Gender Protocol targets and baseline information. This was followed by a Gender Responsive Budgeting workshop funded by UNDP in September 2012. The main objectives of the workshop were to cost implementation of the National Gender Action Plan, capacity building on gender responsive budgeting, understanding and interpreting budgets.
