Madagascar uses a Mixed electoral system at the national level and the Proportional Representation (PR) system at the local level. It does not use a quota at either level. Female representation decreased between 2019 (19.9%) and 2024 (14.1%), despite an increase in the total number of available seats. Without a legislated quota, WPP in Madagascar is likely to remain low.
