Due to COVID-19 restrictions Zimbabwe held three Summits including Entrepreneurship; Local Government Centres of Excellence and one focusing thematic areas such as SRHR.
The Thematic and Entrepreneurship Summits which were conducted in September and October 2020 under the #VoiceandChoice theme saw close to 60 case studies from local government, civil society and media practitioners being showcased in various thematic areas including Entrepreneurship, Drivers of Change, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Youth Engagement, Governance, including the 50/50 campaign, Economic justice, Climate change and the Media.
The Centres of Excellence Local Government Summit was held from 13-16 October 2020. This saw 51 local authorities showcasing their institutional best practices. The summits which came amidst the COVID19 pandemic urged all to be resilient despite the many challenges the pandemic has brought. The summits affirmed the good work that is being done to mainstream gender at the local level. The judges rewarded the most excelling case studies.
