Finance Intern

Gender Links, a Southern African NGO based in Johannesburg specialising in gender, media, women’s rights and governance, seeks a young person for internship with its Corporate Services Unit.

Tasks:

  • Processing payments and ensuring proper control of the supporting documents for payments and financial reports;
  • Banking;
  • Capturing entries into the main ledger;
  • Filing of all finance and admin documents;
  • Petty cash payments and reconciliations;
  • Attending to queries from staff and suppliers
  • General administration, including follow up with suppliers on outstanding issues/invoices;
  • Asset verification and tagging in preparation for the external audit
  • Assisting the Financial Manager at all times as required;

Skills:

  • Working towards obtaining tertiary education with specialised certification in accounting or finance;
  • Interest in accounting in the NGO sector;
  • Experience in Microsoft office programmes and knowledge of spreadsheets;
  • Experience in pastel accounting software will be an advantage,
  • Good administrative and inter personal skills;
  • IT proficiency;
  • Able to handle pressure and is dynamic to change;

General conditions:
This internship is for a period of six months, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. A minimum stipend will be offered.
