Mauritius: Programme Officer
Sheistah Bundhoo joined Gender Links in 2014 after completing her Bsc (Hons) Sociology with Specialisation in Gender Studies course from the University of Mauritius.
Sheistah has been working on several projects at Gender Links and she knows how to manage her work with consistent planning. She looks after programme work, finance, monitoring and evaluation, assist in project write up and co- facilitates training.
Being a young Local Councilor, Sheistah has shown proof of willingness to bring change in the lives of women and help in their empowerment. She believes in the work and is always willing to help women living in poverty and survivors of violence because she wants to empower them. As a young Councilor, she ensures that necessary actions are being taken to ensure security, safety and empowerment of girls and women.
Since the opening of the Safe Haven Halfway Hope Shelter in September 2017, Sheistah is also managing the shelter and holds the position of Shelter Manager along with her duties.
