Economic Justice Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the economic justice programme based on applied entrepreneurship training for survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in local councils across Southern Africa linked to Local Economic Development. The programme explores the link between economic empowerment and GBV, including indicators and tools to measure the changes in individual’s lives who participate in the programme.
  • Managing the monitoring evaluation and learning for the programme.
  • Fundraising and donor reports.
  • Managing a team of consultants.

Qualifications, experience and skills:

  • A Masters’ degree in economic sciences or relevant qualification and experience.
  • Ten years’ experience in managing gender justice advocacy campaigns.
  • Excellent organisation and coordination skills.
  • Writing, training, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Fundraising skills.
  • Previous experience of working on economic empowerment and gender justice issues would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, human resource operation skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationships.
  • Certification as a trainer from a recognised professional body would be an advantage.

Gender Justice and Local Government Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing gender justice and local government work in several Southern African countries to support centres of excellence for Gender in Local Government. These include flagship programmes and campaigns for ending Gender Based Violence (GBV).
  • Monitoring and Evaluating the gender justice and local government programme.
  • Organising country and regional summits for the sharing of best practices and administering of awards.
  • Fund raising at national and regional level for sustaining this process.

Qualifications, experience, and skills

  • A Masters Degree in a relevant social science field.
  • At least ten years’ experience managing gender justice advocacy campaigns.
  • Knowledge of local government and how it works in the Southern African region. Previous experience of working with local government associations would be an advantage.
  • Excellent facilitation, team building and training skills.
  • Excellent media, communication and IT skills.
  • Excellent administrative, logistic and management skills.
  • Excellent fund raising skills.
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, human resource operation skills.

Finance Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate accounting reports.
  • Budget tracking, monthly, quarterly reports.
  • Data capturing in pastel.
  • Process payments timeously and accurately.
  • Donor agreements compliance.
  • Support programme with budgets for proposals/projects.
  • Adherence to internal control system.
  • General ledger month end procedures.
  • Accounts reconciliations.
  • Maintain the asset register.
  • Assisting with the External Audit process.
  • Maintain a proper filing system at all times.

Qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Tertiary education with specialised certification in accounting or finance.
  • At least five years’ experience in accounting in the NGO sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of donors, and donor accounting.
  • Experience in pastel accounting software, Microsoft office programmes and advanced knowledge of spread sheet.
  • Ability to administer and execute financial processes and transactions.
  • Good administrative and inter personal skills.
  • Ability to train staff in financial systems.
  • IT proficiency.
  • Able to handle pressure and is dynamic to change.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep track of all GL monitoring and evaluation tools and systems.
  • Responsible for supplying GL with information needed for planning, monitoring and evaluation of its programmes.
  • Ensure that accurate data generated through surveys, routine monitoring and other data sources is credible.
  • Interpret and analyse data generated from GL monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Generate monthly monitoring and evaluation reports.

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • A degree in statistics, demography or other relevant discipline, including social sciences.
  • Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies and familiarity with routine management information systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in data management packages such as STATA and SPSS.
  • Research skills.
  • Excellent writing, reporting and data analysis skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • At least three years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation.

Botswana Programme Officer

GL is looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to serve as a Programme Officer based in Gaborone. The successful candidate will be expected to travel extensively within the country to support the country manager in local government work.

Tasks:

  • Arrange logistics and manage budgets and reconciliations for local level workshops in ten regions across Botswana.
  • Co-facilitate training in the some stages of the Centres of Excellence in Gender mainstreaming for local government rollÀ“ out workshops.
  • Monitoring and evaluation according to GL systems, policies and procedures.
  • Report writing.

Qualifications and skills:

  • A social science degree or relevant work experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in lobbying and advocacy work preferably linked to gender and local government.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Good training and facilitation skills.
  • Good administrative and inter-personal skills.
  • IT proficiency- knowledge of MS Office package including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project; willingness to learn web based M and E tools,.
  • Proficiency in at least one widely spoken local language in addition to English.
  • A driver’s licence will be of an advantage.
