Loga and Mary attended the debate: “Labour Laws: are women more vulnerable?” organised by Women in Networking on 25 January. All agreed that recent amendments impinged on the labour rights of employees. Unfortunately the debate did not stress the aspect of women’s vulnerability in the labour market.

Loga attended a discussion organised by the United States Embassy under the theme: “An assessment of trafficking in persons in Mauritius.” The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare and the Mauritius Police Force.

Loga also attended a Digital Video Conference (DVC) on effective public speaking on 7 February. The event was hosted by the Embassy of the United States of America in collaboration with Africa Regional Services (ARS) Paris.

Mary and Davinah attended the launch of a training programme on gender-based violence on 17 February. Speeches were delivered by Manda Boolell, Chairperson of Gender Committee of MACOSS, Denis Grandport, Chair of MACOSS and a representative of the Minister of Gender Equality and Child Development and Family Welfare. The speakers all stressed the importance of ending GBV and the need to involve both men and women.
